Quick Hits: Le Butcherettes

I’m kicking the blog back into gear with a few back-to-back articles starting off with Mexican garage rock duo, Le Butcherettes (the above photo is their live set.

The band’s dark, gritty sound is perfect rock out music, and singer Teri Gender Bender’s intense vocals really up the ante. “The Gold Chair Ate The Fire Man” takes turns going from stop and go grit rock to power chord heavy driving rock, and the songs occasional drum-fills are sublime. “Your Weakness Gives Me Life” is a slow, building, song that explodes into a flurry of passion when it reaches its chorus, and Bender’s vocals are so grimey it make’s it all the better.

More on the way soon.
