Quick Hit: Perfume Genius

Today I’m just dropping a couple tracks from the interesting and different Perfume Genius, an artist who you may recall collaborated with Cate Lebon on a track for Mug Museum.

“Queen” is a synth heavy pop ballad layering several synth lines with singer Mike Hadreas’ soft voice, while it starts as a sonically interesting slow jam, its exploding choruses beg for repeat listens and will have you hooked. Definitely in a top 10 weird music videos of recent memory too, it appears to be halfway between The Dallas Buyers Club and Twin Peaks. “Fool” gets 80’s as possible on its synth line, also bringing one of the best snap tracks of recent memory. Just a killer track with a great bass line and a lot of parts working perfectly to make rock while listening to its soft-jam feel. Its middle section also births a cinematic-level synth dive that feels visual.
